Pelican & Hare make games where nobody loses anything, and the art has to hold attention without a threat in it. Eighty cards, late summer, heavy fruit, and one keeper asleep under a ladder who appears on nine of them and is doing something slightly different each time.
I painted the whole deck on a single toned paper stock so the greens stay related, and I kept the value range narrow on purpose. It is the calmest thing I have made and the one people write to me about.
