What it costs, what you get, and when I can start.

Tell me what the game is, what format you need and when it has to be at the printer. A paragraph is plenty. I answer everything inside two working days, and I will say no quickly if the schedule does not work.

If you already have a brief, a prototype or a set of references, send a link along with it.

Things worth settling before we start

Q.01

How many rounds of changes are included?

Three, and they live in the finish stage. Structural changes after the ink line are a new commission, which is exactly why I want your developer in the room at stage three.

Q.02

Who owns the artwork?

You license it for the uses we write down, usually worldwide and for every edition of the game. I keep the original boards and the right to show the work here and in a portfolio. If you need an outright buyout, say so at the quote stage and I will price it.

Q.03

What happens if the game is cancelled?

You pay for the stages that are finished and I keep the unpublished work private for two years, or permanently if that matters to you. Half the fee is due up front and is not refundable, because the calendar was held.

Q.04

Can you match another illustrator's style?

No, and you should be suspicious of anyone who says yes. I can work inside a house look, hold to a fixed palette, or continue a series I did not start, but the hand is the hand.

Q.05

How far ahead do you book?

Four to six months for a cover and longer for a card run. Small icon sets sometimes fit in the gaps between larger jobs, so ask even when the calendar looks full.

Q.06

Do you work on unfunded projects?

Yes, at the same rate, with the campaign art quoted separately. I have illustrated eight campaigns that funded and two that did not, and both of the two that did not still paid on time.

Where the calendar stands

Updated 14 November 2026.

On the board
The last twelve cards for Fenlight, and a cover for Northgate that I am not allowed to name yet.
Next free
March 2027 for a cover. Icon sets sometimes fit sooner, so it is worth asking.
Not taking
Style matching, unpaid pitch art, and anything that has to be at a printer inside six weeks.
